Talmud: The Dangers Of Judaism

The Talmud: A Different Kind Of Replacement Theology - ONE FOR ISRAEL ...

For generations, Christians have been told the Jews are God’s chosen people. We have been told, “Judeo-Christian values” bind Christians and Jews together. However, Christians know very little about the Jewish faith of Judaism.

So what exactly are the values of Judaism that bind us together?

Today, we are going to open the Talmud in order to find out. I believe anytime we support a cause, movement, or people, we should understand what we are supporting. In order to do that, we need to learn a little bit about the Jewish religion.

What Is Judaism?

Judaism is not the religion of the Old Testament. Judaism is a religion that was derived from the rabbinical commentary of the Babylonian Talmud, (also: Jerusalem Talmud).

The Babylonian Talmud is composed of two books. The first is the Mishnah, which is a rabbinical commentary about the Torah. The second is the Gemara, which is a rabbinical commentary about the Mishnah.

Judaism’s Talmud is not claimed to be a Divinely inspired book. It’s simply the commentary of men. Even so, the Talmud serves as the instruction manual for Orthodox and Hasidic Jews around the world.

Now that we have some basic knowledge about Judaism, we are going to open the Talmud to read what the book teaches its Jewish adherents. As you read, take note, a “gentile” is a non-Jew.

Entire quotes from the Talmud are used, bold text for points of interest.

Jews Can Deceive Gentiles

Bava Kamma 113a:21-22
21 The mishna issues its ruling with regard to a gentile customs collector, whom one may deceive, as it is taught in a baraita: In the case of a Jew and a gentile who approach the court for judgment in a legal dispute, if you can vindicate the Jew under Jewish law, vindicate him, and say to the gentile: This is our law. If he can be vindicated under gentile law, vindicate him, and say to the gentile: This is your law. And if it is not possible to vindicate him under either system of law, one approaches the case circuitously, seeking a justification to vindicate the Jew. This is the statement of Rabbi Yishmael. Rabbi Akiva disagrees and says: One does not approach the case circuitously in order to vindicate the Jew due to the sanctification of God’s name, as God’s name will be desecrated if the Jewish judge employs dishonest means.

22 The Gemara infers from this baraita: And even according to Rabbi Akiva, the reason that the court does not employ trickery in order to vindicate the Jew is only because there is the consideration of the sanctification of God’s name. Consequently, if there is no consideration of the sanctification of God’s name, the court does approach the case circuitously. Apparently, it is permitted to deceive a gentile.

One of the first things we all learned when we were children was not to lie and steal. However, in Judaism, it is permitted to lie and deceive a gentile which is anyone who is not a Jew.

We should remember, God said, “Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another,” (Leviticus 19:11). That means, Christians are forbidden from lying to their fellow man, especially in an attempt to deceive another, (Exodus 20:16, Colossians 3:9).

Jews only adhere to the Commandments of God if their “neighbor” is a Jew. If you are wondering why, it will become very clear later in this article.

Jews Can Steal From Gentiles

Bava Kamma 113b:1-2
1 indicating that one should not take a Hebrew slave by force and thereby allow him to leave the gentile’s jurisdiction. Rather, the Jew must be freed by legal means. One might have thought that it is permitted to deceive him in order to free the Jew. Therefore, the verse states: “And he shall reckon with him that bought him” (Leviticus 25:50), in order to teach that one must be precise in the financial dealings with the purchaser of a Hebrew slave, and one must pay him the appropriate sum without employing any form of deception. This indicates that it is prohibited to steal from a gentile.

2 The Gemara answers that Rav Yosef said: It is not difficult, as this ruling that permits the court to deceive a gentile is issued with regard to a regular gentile, whereas that verse, which teaches that it is prohibited to deceive a gentile, is stated with regard to a gentile who resides in Eretz Yisrael and observes the seven Noahide mitzvot [ger toshav].

The Talmud teaches that Jews are permitted to steal and deceive gentiles if the gentile does not reside in “Eretz Yisrael” (land of Israel), and if they do not observe the seven Noahide laws. Therefore, the Talmud teaches it’s acceptable for Jews to steal from non-Jews.

When you think about this in practical terms, it means Jews are allowed to steal from 7.9 billion people on the planet. We should remember, one of the Ten Commandments is “Thou shalt not steal,” (Exodus 20:15). Yet, the Talmud teaches this only applies to other Jews.

Jews Can Murder Gentiles

Sanhedrin 57a:16-17
16 The Gemara challenges: But wherever there is liability for capital punishment, this tanna teaches it; as it is taught in the first clause: With regard to bloodshed, if a gentile murders another gentile, or a gentile murders a Jew, he is liable. If a Jew murders a gentile, he is exempt. Evidently, the term liable is used in the baraita.

17 The Gemara answers: There, in that case, how should the tanna teach it? Should he teach it using the terms prohibited and permitted, indicating that a Jew may kill a gentile ab initio? But isn’t it taught in a baraita that with regard to a gentile, and likewise with regard to Jewish shepherds of small livestock, who were typically robbers, one may not raise them out of a pit into which they fell, and one may not lower them into a pit? In other words, one may not rescue them from danger, but neither may one kill them ab initio. With regard to robbery, the term permitted is relevant, as it is permitted for a Jew to rob a gentile.

Judaism teaches that Jews can rob and even murder gentiles. Yet, one of the Ten Commandments states, “Thou shalt not kill,” which means “murder,” (Exodus 20:13). However, since gentiles are non-Jews, a Jew may murder a gentile according to Judaism.

Think about this, there are only 14 million Jews in the world. So the Jewish faith teaches they can murder anyone on the face of the planet who is not a Jew.

I must ask the Christian, are these the “Judeo-Christian values” that we have been told about?

A Gentile Who Hits A Jew Deserves Death

Sanhedrin 58b:17
Rabbi Ḥanina says: A gentile who struck a Jew is liable to receive the death penalty, as it is stated when Moses saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew: “And he turned this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he struck the Egyptian and hid him in the sand” (Exodus 2:12).

According to the Talmud, any non-Jew who strikes a Jew deserves the death penalty. This is absurd, but it’s another tenet of Judaism.

You probably noticed, Exodus 2:12 is cited to justify this belief. Yet, that verse has nothing to do with justifying a killing. Instead, the rabbinical commentary of the Talmud transformed Scripture into a lie, which became a part of the Jewish faith.

Slapping A Jew Is Like Slapping God

Sanhedrin 58b:18
And Rabbi Ḥanina says: One who slaps the cheek of a Jew is considered as though he slapped the cheek of the Divine Presence; as it is stated: “It is a snare [mokesh] for a man to rashly say [yala]: Holy” (Proverbs 20:25). The verse is interpreted homiletically to mean: One who strikes [nokesh] a Jew is considered as though he hurt the cheek [lo’a] of the Holy One.

Blasphemy.

The Talmud teaches that slapping a Jew is akin to slapping God. Judaism likens Jews to God Himself. No Christian would ever accept that belief, no one is equal to God.

Isaiah 40:18 tells us, “To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?” The Jew’s reply is, “Themselves”. The point of Isaiah 40:18-31 was to emphasis that no one is capable of being equal to our Heavenly Father. That should go without saying.

Disregarding A Rabbi Deserves Death

Eruvin 21b:8
Rava expounded another verse in similar fashion: What is the meaning of that which is written: “And more than these, my son, be careful: of making many books [sefarim] there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh” (Ecclesiastes 12:12)? My son, be careful to fulfill the words of the Sages [soferim] even more than the words of the Torah. For the words of the Torah include positive and negative commandments, and even with regard to the negative commandments, the violation of many of them is punishable only by lashes. Whereas with respect to the words of the Sages, anyone who transgresses the words of the Sages is liable to receive the death penalty, as it is stated: “And whoever breaches through a hedge, a snake shall bite him” (Ecclesiastes 10:8), taking hedges to refer metaphorically to decrees.

The Torah is the name given to the first five books of the Bible; Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Judaism teaches, that violating God’s Commandments as outlined in those books only deserves a few lashings.

However, anyone who violates the words of the “Sages,” who are rabbis, deserves the death penalty. Once again, the Talmud distorts Scripture and instead places the rabbis in supreme authority, even above God Himself.

Let’s see what else the Jewish text tells us.

Jews Can Have Sex With 3 Year Old Girls

Ketubot 11b:6
Rava said that this is what the mishna is saying: An adult man who engaged in intercourse with a minor girl less than three years old has done nothing, as intercourse with a girl less than three years old is tantamount to poking a finger into the eye. In the case of an eye, after a tear falls from it another tear forms to replace it. Similarly, the ruptured hymen of the girl younger than three is restored. And a young boy who engaged in intercourse with an adult woman renders her as one whose hymen was ruptured by wood. And with regard to the case of a woman whose hymen was ruptured by wood itself, there is a dispute between Rabbi Meir and the Rabbis. Rabbi Meir maintains that her marriage contract is two hundred dinars, and the Rabbis maintain that it is one hundred dinars.

Judaism teaches that Jews can have sex with 3-year-old girls. In the eyes of the rabbis who wrote the Talmud, and the Jews who adhere to it, this is not considered an offense at all. Instead, it’s an acceptable practice to partake of.

Jews Can Have Gay Sex With 9 Year Old Boys

Sanhedrin 54b:21
The Gemara asks: With regard to what principle do Rav and Shmuel disagree? The Gemara answers: Rav holds that any halakha that applies to one who engages in intercourse actively applies to one who engages in intercourse passively, and any halakha that does not apply to one who engages in intercourse actively does not apply to one who engages in intercourse passively. Therefore, just as one who engages in intercourse actively is not liable if he is less than nine years old, as the intercourse of such a child does not have the halakhic status of intercourse, so too, if a child who is less than nine years old engages in homosexual intercourse passively, the one who engages in intercourse with him is not liable.

Not only are Jews allowed to have sex with 3-year-old girls, but they can have homosexual sex with 9-year-old boys. In the Talmud, homosexual sex is usually prohibited. However, in the case of little boys, Jews make an exception, as they are not grown “men,” (Sanhedrin 55a:1).

Again, are these the “Judeo-Christian values” we have been told about?

Gentiles Engage In Bestiality

Avodah Zarah 22b:12
as Rav Yehuda says that Shmuel says in the name of Rabbi Ḥanina: I once saw a gentile who bought a goose in the market, engaged in bestiality with it, strangled it, roasted it, and then ate it. And similarly, Rabbi Yirmeya of Difti says: I saw a certain Arab who bought a thigh of meat from the market and carved a space in it that was the size necessary to allow for penetration. Subsequently, he penetrated it, roasted it, and ate it. These incidents demonstrate that gentiles are suspected of immoral conduct with fowl.

I realize this is extremely disturbing to read.

However, Christians must have a basic understanding of the Jewish faith, as we are commonly told the Jews are “God’s chosen people”. It should become obvious at this point, that is an abominable lie, (see: Ashkenazi Jews Are Not Biblical Israelites).

Moreover, one must wonder, did the two rabbis really witness the act, follow the gentiles home, and view them killing, cooking, and eating it?

This verse was clearly designed to degrade non-Jews (“gentiles”). This is nothing more than a disgusting Jewish fable.

Gentiles Prefer Jewish Animals For Sex

Avodah Zarah 22b:11
And if you wish, say instead: Even when he finds the wife, he also engages in bestiality with the animal, as the Master said: The animal of a Jew is more appealing to gentiles than their own wives, as Rabbi Yoḥanan says: At the time when the snake came upon Eve, at the time of the sin of her eating from the Tree of Knowledge, it infected her with moral contamination, and this contamination lingers in all human beings. The Gemara asks: If that is so, a Jew should also be suspected of engaging in bestiality. The Gemara answers: With regard to the Jewish people, who stood at Mount Sinai and received the Torah, their contamination ended, whereas in the case of gentiles, who did not stand at Mount Sinai and receive the Torah, their contamination has not ended.

The Talmud teaches that gentiles (non-Jews) are contaminated beings who continually seek perversion. While Jews are considered pure and without sin. I don’t know about you, but that is not the message I have received from the Talmud.

Gentiles Are Animals, Not People

Keritot 6b:19-20
19 § The mishna includes in its list of those liable to receive karet: And one who applies the anointing oil to his skin. The Sages taught in a baraita: One who applies the anointing oil to animals or vessels is exempt, and one who applies it to gentiles or to corpses is exempt. The Gemara objects: Granted, one is exempt in the case of animals and vessels, as it is written: “Upon the flesh of a person it shall not be applied” (Exodus 30:32), and animals and vessels are not the flesh of a person. It is also clear why one is exempt if he applies it to a corpse, as once someone has died, the body is called a corpse and not a person. But if one applies anointing oil to gentiles why is he exempt? Aren’t they included in the meaning of the term person [adam]?

20 The Gemara explains: Indeed they are not. As it is written: “And you My sheep, the sheep of My pasture, are people [adam]” (Ezekiel 34:31), from which it is derived that you, the Jewish people, are called adam, but gentiles are not called adam.

Judaism boldly teaches that gentiles are animals and not people, (Berakhot 58a:13).

This is why Jews are permitted to lie, cheat, steal, and murder gentiles. So when Exodus 20:15 says, “Thou shalt not steal”. Jews only apply that verse toward other Jews, since a non-Jew is considered an animal.

If more Christians knew what the Talmud actually taught, it’s doubtful Christians would embrace terms such as “Judeo-Christian values,” and call the Jews “God’s chosen people”. The fact of the matter is, Jews and Christians have nothing in common.

Hell Has No Power Over A Jew

Chagigah 27a:7-8
7 § Apropos the coating of the altar, the Gemara cites an Aggadic teaching: Rabbi Abbahu said that Rabbi Elazar said: The fire of Gehenna has no power over Torah scholars. This can be derived by an a fortiori inference from the salamander [salamandra], a creature created out of fire and immune to its effects, and whose blood is fireproof: If a salamander, which is merely a product of fire, and nevertheless when one anoints his body with its blood, fire has no power over him, all the more so should fire not have any power over Torah scholars, whose entire bodies are fire, as it is written: “Surely My words are as fire, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 23:29), and the words of Torah become part of the Torah scholars’ very bodies.

8 Reish Lakish said: The fire of Gehenna has no power over the sinners of Israel either. This can be derived by an a fortiori inference from the golden altar: If the golden altar, which has on it a coating that is no more than the thickness of a gold dinar, and which has incense burning on it for many years and yet fire has no power over it, as the gold miraculously remained undamaged, all the more so should immunity from fire be granted to the sinners of Israel, who are filled with good deeds as a pomegranate is full of seeds, as it is written: “Your temples [rakatekh] are like a pomegranate split open” (Song of Songs 4:3), which is to be expounded as follows: Do not read this word as rakatekh, rather read it as reikanin shebakh, meaning the empty, worthless people among you; even these people are as full of good deeds as a pomegranate is full of seeds.

The Talmud tells us, the blood of a mythical salamander prevents fire from harming Jewish scholars. Nor can the “fire of Gehenna” which is the Lake of Fire destroy a Jew. Clearly stated, Judaism teaches that Jews cannot be condemned to death for any sin.

Yet, Scripture tells us, “All have sinned,” (Romans 3:23). “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us,” (1 John 1:8). That is, unless you are a Jew, according to Judaism.

For the record, “God is a consuming fire,” not any Jewish rabbi, (Hebrews 12:29).

Jews Say The Christian Bible Is Wicked

Shabbat 116a:10
Yosef bar Ḥanin raised a dilemma before Rabbi Abbahu: With regard to these books of the house of Abidan, does one rescue them from the fire or does one not rescue them? There were sacred Jewish texts in that house, which were used in debates and discussions on matters of faith. Rabbi Abbahu did not give him a clear answer but said yes and no, and the matter was uncertain to him. Rav would not go to the house of Abidan for conversation, and all the more so he would not go to the house of Nitzrefei, the Persian fire-temple. Shmuel, to the house of Nitzrefei he did not go, but to the house of Abidan he did go. The gentile scholars said to Rava: Why did you not come to the house of Abidan? He evaded their question with an excuse and said to them: There is a certain palm tree on the road, and that makes the path difficult for me. They said to him: We will uproot it. He said to them: Nevertheless, the resulting pit in its place will be difficult for me. Mar bar Yosef said: I am one of them, we are friends, and I do not fear them. Still, one time he went and argued with them and they sought to endanger his life. Rabbi Meir would call the Christian writing, the Evangelion, the wicked folio [aven gilyon]; Rabbi Yoḥanan called it the sinful folio [avon gilyon].

Since the Jews call the Holy Bible a wicked and sinful Book, they certainly do not believe in “Judeo-Christian values”. Nevertheless, be comforted in knowing, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God,” (2 Timothy 3:16).

Moreover, “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost,” (2 Peter 1:21). No doubt, this Scripture was directed toward the Talmud and other books which certainly come from “the will of man”.

Jews Say Jesus Is Boiling In Excrement

Gittin 57a:3-4
3 Onkelos then went and raised Jesus the Nazarene from the grave through necromancy. Onkelos said to him: Who is most important in that world where you are now? Jesus said to him: The Jewish people. Onkelos asked him: Should I then attach myself to them in this world? Jesus said to him: Their welfare you shall seek, their misfortune you shall not seek, for anyone who touches them is regarded as if he were touching the apple of his eye (see Zechariah 2:12).

4 Onkelos said to him: What is the punishment of that man, a euphemism for Jesus himself, in the next world? Jesus said to him: He is punished with boiling excrement. As the Master said: Anyone who mocks the words of the Sages will be sentenced to boiling excrement. And this was his sin, as he mocked the words of the Sages. The Gemara comments: Come and see the difference between the sinners of Israel and the prophets of the nations of the world. As Balaam, who was a prophet, wished Israel harm, whereas Jesus the Nazarene, who was a Jewish sinner, sought their well-being.

These blasphemous words are hard to place on these web pages. Yet, it’s critically important that you understand what the Talmud contains. Judaism teaches that a sorcerer raised Jesus from hell where He was boiling in hot feces.

Is this what you envision when you think about “Judeo-Christian values”?

If this were not bad enough, the Jews also teach that Jesus performed sorcery and magic, worshiped idols, led people to sin, and that Mary (Miriam) cheated on Joseph, (Sotah 47a:14, Shabbat 104b:5, see: ben Stada).

Jews Have Triumphed Over God

Bava Metzia 59b:5
Rabbi Yehoshua stood on his feet and said: It is written: “It is not in heaven” (Deuteronomy 30:12). The Gemara asks: What is the relevance of the phrase “It is not in heaven” in this context? Rabbi Yirmeya says: Since the Torah was already given at Mount Sinai, we do not regard a Divine Voice, as You already wrote at Mount Sinai, in the Torah: “After a majority to incline” (Exodus 23:2). Since the majority of Rabbis disagreed with Rabbi Eliezer’s opinion, the halakha is not ruled in accordance with his opinion. The Gemara relates: Years after, Rabbi Natan encountered Elijah the prophet and said to him: What did the Holy One, Blessed be He, do at that time, when Rabbi Yehoshua issued his declaration? Elijah said to him: The Holy One, Blessed be He, smiled and said: My children have triumphed over Me; My children have triumphed over Me.

Clearly stated, the Jews do not regard God Almighty.

Instead, Judaism teaches the Jews have triumphed over God Himself. This is blasphemy, blasphemy of the Jews who make up the synagogue of Satan, (Revelation 2:9, 3:9). No one is higher than God, He is the Potter, and we are the clay, (Isaiah 29:16, 64:8, Jeremiah 18:6).

  12. Hell has no power over Jews.
  13. Jews say the Christian Bible is wicked.
  14. Jews say Jesus is boiling in excrement.
  15. Jews have triumphed over God.

With that summary laid out, we have three final verses from the Talmud to discuss.

Jewish Fables

Turn your Bible with me to,

Titus 1:14
Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

We have read this verse many times, but perhaps its depth and scope were not realized until now. God warned Christians long ago about the dangers of what would become known as “Judaism”. Warning how these “commandments of men” could turn us from the truth.

While most Christians have never heard the lies, deceit, and vile words the Talmud promotes. Most Christians have been tricked into believing Christianity is rooted in Judaism, which is an utter lie. That too is another Jewish fable, one that has wrongly attached Christians to Jews.

Before we close the Talmud, we must cover three disturbing Jewish fables.

Bathroom Demons

Gittin 70a:15
Rabba bar Rav Huna says: One who came back from traveling on the road and engaged in sexual intercourse immediately has weak children conceived from those acts of intercourse. The Sages taught: With regard to one who comes in from the bathroom, he should not engage in sexual intercourse until he waits the measure of time it takes to walk half a mil because the demon of the bathroom accompanies him. And if he engaged in sexual intercourse without waiting this measure of time, he has children who are epileptic.

You read correctly.

The Jews believe there are bathroom demons that follow you after you leave the facilities. Oddly enough, if one engages in sex before the “time it takes to walk half a mil,” then the resulting children will be epileptic.

A Jewish fable indeed.

Solomon’s Male And Female Demons

Gittin 68a:7-8
7 The Master said: Here they interpreted it: Male demons and female demons. The Gemara asks: Why was it necessary for Solomon, the author of Ecclesiastes, to have male demons and female demons? The Gemara answers: As it is written with regard to the building of the Temple: “For the house, when it was being built, was built of stone made ready at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was being built” (I Kings 6:7). Solomon said to the sages: How shall I make it so that the stone will be precisely cut without using iron? They said to him: There is a creature called a shamir that can cut the stones, which Moses brought and used to cut the stones of the ephod.

8 Solomon said to them: Where is it found? They said to him: Bring a male demon and a female demon and torment them together. It is possible that they know where, and due to the suffering they will reveal the place to you. Solomon brought a male demon and a female demon and tormented them together, and they said: We do not know where to find the shamir. Perhaps Ashmedai, king of the demons, knows.

In mythology, “Ashmedai” is the king of the demons, which sure sounds like Satan. Nevertheless, Jews believe Ashmedai is a real entity. In fact, if you continue reading Gittin 68a, they explain Ashmedai dug a hole in a mountain, filled it with water, and covered it in rock.

Each day, Ashmedai ascends to heaven and studies, then he comes to earth to do the same. Always checking on the seal he placed on his mountain, to ensure no one is drinking his water.

One final Jewish fable before we conclude.

A Rabbi, A Prostitute, And A Fart

Avodah Zarah 17a:12
The Gemara asks: And is it correct that one who repents of the sin of forbidden sexual intercourse does not die? But isn’t it taught in a baraita: They said about Rabbi Elazar ben Durdayya that he was so promiscuous that he did not leave one prostitute in the world with whom he did not engage in sexual intercourse. Once, he heard that there was one prostitute in one of the cities overseas who would take a purse full of dinars as her payment. He took a purse full of dinars and went and crossed seven rivers to reach her. When they were engaged in the matters to which they were accustomed, a euphemism for intercourse, she passed wind and said: Just as this passed wind will not return to its place, so too Elazar ben Durdayya will not be accepted in repentance, even if he were to try to repent.

I am sorry, but I cannot even summarize this one for you.

Once again, we find sexual promiscuity in the Talmud. In fact, the book is filled with disturbing sexual content, fables, and contradictions that never end.

Conclusion

When we think back to the time of Jesus Christ, He was continually confronted by the Jews. Specifically, the Pharisees, Sadducees, and scribes who were always concerned with the “tradition of the elders”.

Jesus tried to correct them on many occasions. Let’s read one of them together.

Mark 7:8-9
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

That is exactly what we have learned from the 18 verses we discussed in the Talmud. The Jews have laid aside the Commandments of God in place of their “tradition,” today being called the Talmud, and the religion of Judaism.

Mark 7:13
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Many of us have probably read right over these verses, not understanding the depth and scope of Christ’s statement. I hope it has now become clear. The tradition of the elders are the traditions and commandments of the rabbis as outlined in the Talmud.

Through the Talmud, the Jews made the word of God of no effect for themselves, and they have deceived Christians into believing the concept of “Judeo-Christian values”.

The fact of the matter is, the Talmud is a book written by deviant wicked men, and Judaism is incompatible with Christianity.

Addendum: Additional disturbing Talmudic verses.
